Eating Healthy on the Road

Look what was delivered while I was in session – my clean eating essentials for the workshop. Limited perishables due to teeny tiny space in mini-bar ‘fridge, but far better option than the alternative!

Thank You Thursday Follow Up

I went home for lunch today and had the nicest letter from Delta! They said they would be forwarding my comments about Rodney to his leadership team so he would receive appropriate recognition. Yay!20120416-133917.jpg

Thank You Thursday Postscript

I got a thank you yesterday, a sweet note from Robin at LensCrafters thanking me for my letter of support!

Who Made It to the Gym for the First Monday Morning in Many Weeks?

20111114-065109.jpg

For at least the last month, I’d moved Monday cardio from early a.m. to after work because it was so hard to get up early after sleeping late over the weekend. Because there’s so much I want to do at home, I figured freeing up 45 minutes in the evening could only help. Plus, I thought the morning endorphins may kick start some of my get up and go. Fingers crossed.

Really Cool Insight

Today, for only about the second time since I started eating healthier, I had a headache.

It is such an unusual occurrence that I mentally went through a checklist of what I might have done differently in the last 24 hours. Ate “normal for me” dinner? Check.  Had my morning coffee? Check. No excess artificially sweetened foods? Check. Worked out? Check.

Then I thought back to what I was doing just before the headache started. I was at the Coca Cola Recycle and Win news conference. Didn’t drink any soft drinks. Didn’t eat anything. AHA! On the way out, they gave me a beautiful bouquet of red and yellow flowers that had been used as a centerpiece. They’d been in the car since about noon, and except for a few stops, I had, too. And flowers often upset my sinuses. The flowers were guilty as charged for the headache.

Before I started eating better – giving up fast food and processed foods – I had headaches so often; it definitely wasn’t a rare occurrence. I never really even tried to figure out the cause; I just knew that I had them and needed meds.

Pretty interesting comparison, if I say so myself.

First Great Salad I’ve Had

Yum! Grilled chicken salad from Houston’s in Atlanta. Shaved chicken, Key Lime vinaigrette made it wonderful! Hopefully the first of many great salads!

Fun at the Gym This Morning

No names, and faces have been obscured to protect the innocent (and not so innocent)! I just had to share this playful moment at the gym!

Officially Unexcited About Lunch

Today is Meatless Monday, and while I’m excited to have one of my fave quinoa dishes for lunch, there’s a new addition to it: lettuce. Half a cup. Part of my challenge to get more vegetables.

I can do this. I’ve lost 70+ lbs.; how hard can lettuce be?

I’m trying to make it easy. Using Romaine. Tore it into bite size pieces. Having one piece of lettuce per fork of quinoa pilaf. Heated it ever so slightly to kill the crunch.

Down four bites already…I can’t wait to email Traci a pic of the empty plate.

And It All Hits Home This Morning

I just stopped by my dry cleaners, and the woman who works there – the one I’ve given some of my old size 20 and 22s to – told me that she’d been diagnosed with diabetes.

A Huge WOOT!

A skirt I ordered arrived today. I ordered it two sizes smaller than the old usual, but when I got it, I didn’t think it would fit. It was a straight pencil skirt, and it looked small! I thought that I shouldn’t have been so ambitious with the size thing, but just for kicks, I tried it on…Just for kicks, I tried it on. IT FIT!
